Sunlight
Succulents love sunlight like most plants and need around 6 hrs a day. Depending on the succulent species, a newly planted succulent may scorch in direct sunlight and gradually introduce your new succulent to direct sunlight.
Rotation
Make sure to rotate your succulent often to get sun on all sides and don't start leaning towards the sun on one side.
Watering
Succulents go through a growth cycle and dormant time. Spring and summer are the times for the plant to be watered most and maintained. During the fall and winter months most succulents need very little water and just enough to keep the soil damp. When watering makes sure to not water the leaves but the root system instead.
Cleaning
Keep your succulents clean from dust and debris that collect on the leaves. This can inhibit growth from the plant. Use a damp cloth or paintbrush to get hard-to-reach areas.
Drainage
Make sure that whatever pot your succulent is in, has proper drainage to prevent rotting of the roots.
Soil
Make sure to have the proper soil in your pot. Regular potting soil won't do well with succulents. They need cactus soil or mix potting soil with sand, pumice, or perlite.
Fertilizer You can add a small amount of fertilizer to your succulent but be sure not to over-fertilize as this can cause the succulents to grow too quickly and thus becoming too weak to carry themselves.
