LOW POWER ON STIHL EQUIPTMENT!

One day while at a customer's property I noticed my weedwhacker and leaf blower were both having little to no power.

Very confused I pulled out the spark plug and air filter to see if those were the issues but they were fairly new. Managed to look it up and find that the SPARK ARRESTOR was the issue and gets clogged up with carbon.

A spark arrestor is designed to trap any glowing sparks before they exit your tailpipe by acting as a filter.

It seems that this is a very common issue and needs to be cleaned constantly. I ended up just removing both from the blower and weedwhacker and they have come back to life!

To figure out how to remove the arrestor click the link below to watch a quick video

This is what the arrestor looked like out of my STIHL br450 leaf blower

This is the one out of my STIHL KM 131 R,

as you can see it was just a full screen over the exhaust of the motor.
